Since 1985, ROSEBUD® (Babies Undelivered and Delivered) has been successfully finding ways to improve health outcomes and reduce costs associated with high-risk pregnancies and infants. Created by the ROSE® Program, ROSEBUD provides services nationwide.

The ROSEBUD team, including physician consultants for neonatology and perinatology and nurse specialists, understand that early, appropriate intervention can lessen complications and promote long-term savings.

The program focuses on decreasing the incidence of prematurity and low birth weight through:

  • Education
  • Early detection of high-risk mothers and babies
  • Appropriate care

ROSEBUD nurses supplement and reinforce the physician’s treatment plan, without actually providing medical advice. Your insureds can take advantage of one or all of the following components within our four-part program.

Special Delivery Program — assesses Risks and Promotes Healthy Behavior

This pregnancy education screening program can be offered to all your plan’s pregnant members. This proactive approach to pregnancy management includes:

  • An initial, comprehensive risk screening and assessment
  • Verbal and written educational information on healthy lifestyles, normal pregnancy progression and warning signs of pregnancy complications
  • Recommended referrals to perinatal case management if risks are identified

Perinatal Case Management Program — strives to bring High-Risk Pregnancies Closer to Term and Decrease Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Stays

Through the efforts of ROSEBUD nurses, high-risk mothers often are able to be cared for at home — preventing perinatal hospitalization and bringing pregnancy closer to term.

ROSEBUD nurses complement your internal case management programs by:

  • Evaluating pregnant women at risk for complications during pregnancy
  • Coordinating the most appropriate plan of care as identified by the healthcare providers, with the objective of facilitating services which will lead to a healthy delivery
  • Providing ongoing education and support of mothers-to-be and families

Neonatal Case Management Program — helps manage infants with complex needs

Regardless of the advances in medical treatment, some babies will be born prematurely and/or with congenital abnormalities. ROSEBUD neonatal nurse specialists work with medical providers to coordinate infant care during hospitalization and assist with discharge plans. Efforts are focused on:

  • Educating the parents on the infant’s diagnosis and care needs to prepare them for providing care at home
  • Coordinating the services and equipment required for care after discharge home
  • Connecting parents with available community resources for additional support

Program Development Consultation — assists health plans in improving their perinatal and neonatal management programs

ROSEBUD nurse consultants can provide in-depth program review and recommendations on:

  • Working effectively with providers
  • Incorporating national guidelines into internal policies and procedures
  • Accessing and utilizing comparative data
  • Assessing staff educational needs and accessing resources
  • Effectively tracking and reporting financial and clinical outcomes

Questions about the ROSEBUD program should be directed to your ROSE Health Services Consultant.
